Field report UK:
ISKCON Temple President confronts IRM

IRM

Back To Prabhupada, Issue 31, Spring 2011

“At the Soho Street temple in London, whilst some of our devotees were distributing BTPs, as they do every Sunday outside the Sunday feast program, one Indian gentleman, who is a regular visitor there, came out to speak to our distributors and told them that though he had not received the book 100 Contradictions: The life and teachings of His Holiness Bhakti Charu Swami, a friend who had received it made it a point to lend it to him, and he was so impressed on reading it that he scanned the whole book and e-mailed it to every Bhakti Charu Swami disciple he knew! Also, the Temple President of Soho Street came out to confront our distributors and the following exchange took place:

Temple President: “Why don’t you do this somewhere else?”
IRM: “Because it is important only for ISKCON devotees.”
Temple President: “But this is all negative.”
IRM: “No. This is positive preaching that Prabhupada is our guru and he will take us home.”
Temple President: “Why don’t you start your own temple?”
IRM: “This is our temple, the one Srila Prabhupada gave us to run as he instructed.”
Temple President: “Well, good luck.”
And with that he left us to carry on blissfully distributing BTPs. It is interesting to note that the Temple President had no reply to the answer given to each of his accusations, and thus each time he was forced to change the subject and make up another unrelated accusation.”
