Autumn 2006

Spot the difference between...

"Actually Prabhupada never appointed any gurus. He appointed eleven ritviks."
(HH Tamala Krishna Goswami, 3/12/80)

"Srila Prabhupada did not appoint anyone to be guru for the future."
(HH Jayadvaita Swami, San Diego, debate 1990)

"By the influence of maya, illusion, a different idea soon evolved that Srila Prabhupada had appointed eleven "pure devotees" to serve as the only gurus after him…"
(HH Jayadvaita Swami, BTG #25-01, 1991)
"A little before departing from this world in November of 1977, His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada asked Hridayananda dasa Goswami, as well as ten other prominent disciples, to accept the role of spiritual masters and initiate disciples to give continuity to the disciplic succession starting with the Supreme Lord, Krishna."

Such confusion is only to be expected when the GBC has been governing for the last 30 years based solely on one concocted system after another, so that today no one is clear anymore what the "official" story is supposed to be!
